SUMMARY OF EVENTS

October 8 & 9, 2010 - American Legion Post #73 provided the setting for the Midwest City High School Class of 1970 Forty Year Reunion.  Although the head count is not yet official, the event was attended by more than 100 Classmates & their guests. It sure was good to see everyone again - some for the first time in 40 years!

FRIDAY - An advance party of Committee members arrived at noon to prepare for the grand event.  The room was decorated with black and gold helium-filled balloons, Styrofoam bomber cut-outs and plastic bomber airplanes suspended from the ceiling.
As 6 o'clock approached, early-comers began to arrive.  As they checked in at the registration table, they received a souvenir MCHS coffee mug and free tickets to the Homecoming football game (MCHS vs. Moore Lions) which, incidentally, the Bombers won handily 32 - 0!   While many attended the game, an equal number mingled at the Legion Hall. Expressions of delight could be heard echoing throughout the room as old friends greeted one another.
Later, Classmate Jerry Brown cranked up his Karaoke machine and several of our "not so shy" classmates stepped up and delivered impressive performances!
As midnight rolled around, most everyone had retired for the evening, however, a few hung in there until closing time!

SATURDAY,10 AM - A sizeable number of classmates met at MCHS for  a guided tour of the building and school museum which was hosted by Classmate Dan Caram.  Although the building has changed over the years, some things were still recognizable!

SATURDAY EVENING - Excitement began to build as the room was prepared for the main event.  As things got underway, classmates enjoyed a terrific buffet meal.  Master of ceremonies Ira Beth Wylie then addressed the class and a moment of silence was observed as she and Dan Caram read the names of our departed classmates.
Mike Black and the Stingrays, our entertainment for the evening, kicked things off with a selection of songs from the 1970's.  Our very own Ira Beth (who was once an active member of the Stingrays) took center stage and sang several songs with the band.
After the first set of music, Committee members were introduced.  Certificates of appreciation were awarded to Linda Carroll for her tireless efforts and Graham Pugh (Ira Beth's husband) who served as a Committee member and manages the class website.  Classmates then gathered for a group photograph followed by individual junior high and grade school group shots.  A show of hands was taken and the class unanimously agreed that our next reunion should take place in 5 years - not 10, so make your plans now!
